Some convenient tips for mailing a care package:
- The postal service gives a discounted rate on large flat rate priority packages to military APO/FPO addresses. The current rate is $12.50 for a flat rate box.
- If you don’t want to make an extra trip to the post office, USPS will deliver flat rate boxes to your doorstep for free…including ones that specifically state APO/FPO on them. Order packing material here.
- Is your package ready to go out but you aren’t? Request for the postal carrier to pick the package up at your door for free at www.usps.com .
**Don’t forget- all packages heading to APO addresses, whether your loved one is stationed in a place like Germany or deployed to a war zone, need to have a customs form attached.
